Grounded in Faith
This first Sunday of our Advent Season has a focus on hope and faith in Unity. These two concepts are clearly tied together, but in my mind are very different. I think faith is about believing in something despite not being able to see it, while hope is the anticipation of a positive outcome based on that belief. Faith is one of the true pillars of our teachings as it was for Jesus as well. Faith can provide a sense of stability and reassurance in the present, while hope motivates us to strive for better outcomes in the future.
When we truly know and understand who we are and how powerful we really are, it’s easier to use the principles to shape our life experience. The Christmas story is magical to me, because it shows how people surrendered their fear and moved out of their comfort zones to follow their faith that was fueled by hope toward something they felt would make their lives better.
We can do the same for ourselves too this holiday season. We can slow down, pay attention to what is happening all around us, and be present to it. We can observe how our being grounded in faith assures us that there truly is hope for our future because we have the tools to create our own experience.
I hope you will join us this Sunday as we move into this precious time of the Christmas season. Whether you join us in person or on the Zoom platform, it’s always better when you are with us.
Many blessings,
Rev Donna
