Board Candidate 2025 - Kasey Conklin
Kasey was born and raised in Port Charlotte. In 2023 was blessed to semi-retire early from nursing, to care for her parents.
In 2019 she started attending UCOP, expressing, “After a very bumpy road of religion over the years it was wonderful to find Unity and I instantly knew I had found what I had been looking for.” In 2020 she started taking the class to become a member but that did not come to fruition because of the start of COVID. Finally, she completed the 5 principles and became a member in 2023. She believes deeply in the 5 principles.
In 2024 she started SEE classes with the intention of making the decision down the road which path to take, LUT or ministry. Also facilitating, for the first time, a small group for the 7 spiritual laws book. She feels serving on the board is an opportunity to not only to continue growing spiritually, but also to get to know everyone better, and will provide insight on the inner workings of the church.
She helps by being the “champion” of the food team of helping hands, which provides for congregants who need meals after a life event; also, with grounds clean up, choir team, prayer team, hospitality on Sunday in the summer months, and the newest team Christmas craft festival team.
When asked what she would like to do and what the future holds, she responds, “To make a difference and the possibilities are infinite.” In 2025 she plans to continue her spiritual studies, grow her food forest, and start an online blog. She looks forward to the years to come of being a part of and serving UCOP.
Board Candidate 2025 - Brian Selius
Thank you for considering me for the UCOP Board of Trustees.
I am a Board-certified Osteopathic Family Physician currently teaching at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. In my previous position at FSU/Lee Health residency in Fort Myers, I served as medical director and lead physician and graduated from the Physician Leadership Institute.
Before moving to FL, I served as Finance Chair for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, OH.
My spiritual path began in the 1970s when I began studying and practicing Buddhism, which I continue to this day. My first encounter with Unity was reading the Daily Word and attending a Unity Church in Brookline, MA in the 1980’s. Moving to Akron, OH for residency, I regularly attended a Unity Church in the 1990’s.
I am so blessed to have found a thriving spiritual community at UCOP which encourages and supports my spiritual growth. I am committed to serving others within this community and helping it grow.
I have served as an usher and greeter, volunteered for the grounds clean up and special events, and helped us acquire a defibrillator.
I would be honored to serve on the UCOP Board to further support this loving community. Thank you!
Board Candidate 2025 - John Krueger
I’m happily married to my true love Vivian Krueger for the past 51 years. We have two children and four granddaughters, Eva our youngest is living with us since January of last year, and her adoption was finalized in May, she’s been a joyous addition to our family.
I worked at Walt Disney World as a Regional Manager of Engineering Services. It was a very satisfying enjoyable job where I opened four resorts and the animal Kingdom Park. I was overseeing the facilities maintenance department in a resort in one park. I retired on December 31,2019 after 34 enjoyable years.
I was introduced to Unity by Vivian in 2009 at Unity of Claremont. This is where I was began learning our Unity teachings, one year later I was elected to the board and served as a board president for four years. We relocated to North Port after I retired and joined the Unity Church of Peace.
We enjoy the classes book studies in events and most of all everyone in our community I became a Prayer team member two years ago and still serve. In 2021 I was elected to the board and served as a trustee for two years then was elected to be your board president for the past two years.
I’m excited to stay on the board to complete the project we started “The Club House” (annex).
Soon we will be starting the Fundraising project. I’m a believer in prosperity and know we will have the funds to start and complete the project this year.
This is a needed space to help grow our church community. We will have the ability to have classes, book studies and training for adults. It will be used for Sunday children’s classes, along with the ability to rent the space for additional earnings. It’s has been my pleasure to serve on the board for the last four years and I am looking forward to another four years.
