A Father's Heart

As I write these words, I’m sitting on the ship, the Coral Princess, in the Pacific Ocean,
headed from Ketchikan, AK to Vancouver, BC. For the last twelve days, twenty-two of
our friends explored the wonders and grandeur of the great state of Alaska.

Because we set our focus on the Power of Zeal this month, I was able to witness the
zeal and enthusiasm that many of our tour guides held for their beloved state. Each one
felt the passion of the rugged terrain, the magnificence of the wildlife (including bears,
caribou, Dall sheep, moose and whales) and the humility that comes from standing
before Mount McKinley/Denali, known as “The Great One.”

Each guide along our journey expressed their desire that we, too, take a moment to be
completely aware and immersed in the present moment. We often talk about “present
moment awareness” in Unity. It’s our chance to let God get a word in edgewise into our
business of daily living. But do we really take the time to stop, look, and listen to God’s
presence all around us at any given moment? Or are we focused on past events or
future adventures?

This week, as we honor our Dads and the Father figures in our lives, take a moment to
really appreciate who you are, who they are (or were) and how you have come to be the
fullness of God’s blessing in this world because of their presence in your life. Let God
get a word in edgewise to reframe any past history your might have experienced so that
Zeal can your guide as you count all the many blessings in your life.

Join us this Sunday, either in-person or on Zoom, as we explore the Power of Zeal,
using present moment awareness and unconditional love. See you soon in the great
state of Florida!

Blessing you abundantly,
Rev. Eileen
