The Ability to Know the Truth

In Unity, truth is more than knowing facts or gathering information. It is the ability to look beyond appearances and recognize the spiritual reality of who we are and the presence of God within all life.

Charles Fillmore, cofounder of Unity, identified Understanding as one of our Twelve Powers—the spiritual capacity to perceive divine truth and apply it in our daily lives. Through understanding, we learn to look beyond fear, confusion, and old beliefs to see life from a deeper spiritual perspective.

Developing our power of understanding requires us to become still, listen within, and remain open to divine guidance. Rather than reacting to what we see, we can pause and ask, “What is the deeper truth here? How can I see this situation through the eyes of love?”

As we explore “The Ability to Know the Truth,” let us remember that spiritual understanding is not something we acquire; it is a divine capacity we awaken and strengthen within ourselves. As we align our thoughts and choices with truth, we discover greater freedom, peace, and wisdom.

I look forward to our time together this Sunday. It will be so much fun as we are dressing in our Halloween costumes to celebrate the last Sunday prior to Halloween. I hope you can be with us because it’s always better when you’re here!

Love and blessings,

Rev Donna
