We continue to focus on the spiritual Power of Will this month. There are several meanings of the word “will”, including wish or desire, self-control, and the power of choosing and then acting on that choice. We make choices all the time. For example, this morning, I told myself to get out of bed, and start my day – in a good mood! Even though I wanted to sleep in, and I could have been crabby about waking up at 6:00 AM
after six hours sleep, I chose to get out of bed and start my day in a positive way, and here’s the kicker, stay that way all day! No exceptions!
Did you know that the average adult makes roughly 35,000 decisions every single day? Some of those decisions are conscious and some are not. We may put a lot of consideration into the decision, and others are more routine and habitual choices. Have you considered that the one choice we get to consciously make every day is to choose God’s Will for us instead of always using our “personal” will?
Charles Fillmore tells us that the choices we make using our will power determine the kind of person we become, and the kind of experiences we have. We can always choose to let God’s Will, which seeks good for all to flow through us. So, if our life feels a little rocky, we might ask ourselves if we are somehow using our “personal” will to refuse God’s good or if we are using our Spiritual Gift of Will to be willing to receive God’s good? The choice is always ours.
Join us this Sunday, either in-person or on Zoom, as we explore the Power of Will, using intention and wisdom in our daily living.
Blessing you abundantly,
Rev. Eileen
