Be a Lighthouse
In every coastal town, lighthouses stand as symbols of safety and guidance. They shine through the darkness, cutting through storms and uncertainty, offering assurance to sailors who may feel lost at sea. In much the same way, we are each called to be lighthouses in the world—radiating our Christ light to guide, uplift, and inspire others.
In Unity, we teach that the Christ within us is our true essence—the light of God expressing as us. Jesus reminded us of this truth when he said, “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). Our spiritual task is not to create the light, for it already exists within us, but to allow it to shine more fully and freely.
Being a lighthouse doesn’t mean we need to “fix” anyone or control their journey. A lighthouse never runs out to rescue a ship; it simply stands in its place, unwavering, radiant, and clear. Likewise, when we live from our Christ nature—expressing kindness, compassion, and love—we naturally become a steady beacon that others can look toward in times of need.
The world needs our light now more than ever. In the face of fear, division, and uncertainty, our Christ light becomes a reminder of peace, hope, and possibility. Each smile, prayer, and act of forgiveness strengthens the beam we cast into the world.
This week, let us ask ourselves: Am I shining my Christ light with courage? Am I allowing my love to reach into the lives of others? Am I standing strong and steady, like a lighthouse, so that those searching for hope can find their way?
You make a difference and your light is needed. Don't hide it. Stand tall, shine brightly, and be the lighthouse this world needs.
I can’t wait to see you this weekend! We are dedicating our prayer chaplain team and honoring our volunteers. I hope you are able to be with us because it’s always better when you are here-whether in person or on Zoom,
Much love,
Rev Donna
